Chiang Mai American Independence Day Picnic!
Hotdogs, Hamburgers, Games, Fireworks and a lot of Fun! It has been way too long since we have had a fun American Independence Day Picnic here in Chiang Mai. Let's come together as a community to celebrate and have a good time! Open grass, music, good food, little kids running around and happy people. Fun for all!
This event is being arranged and hosted by TASA Co. Ltd. as a fundraising event for the Friends for Asia Foundation. Understandable confusion can be made with the name of the venue "The Consul's Garden" and the US Consulate. This event is not organized by the US Consulate. However, all staff and members of the US Consulate are welcomed to attend.
Event is being held on the 1st of July, 2023.
*Bring a mat, or foldable chairs from home to sit on! It's a picnic.
4th of July Games and Activities - Chiang Mai
Face painting for kids, live chicken display, American flag painting, ring toss, bowling games, etc. A list of activities will be posted soon.

Program For the Day - Saturday, the 1st of July, 2023
2:30pm -Parade!
Parade with local international school students, the Dara Academy Marching Band, a fire truck, and the local chapter of the American Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
Parade Route
Parade route starts at Kawila Sub District Office, and finishes at The Consul's Garden. The parade should take roughly 30 minutes, starting at 2:30pm.
3:00pm - 4:00pm Student Shows
Students from local international schools will be performing from 3:00 - 4:00pm
4:00pm -Watermelon Eating Contest
Yes, pretty much what the subject line suggests. This is going to be messy and fun!
4:15pm - 5:00pm -The Dara Academy Symphonic Band
Big high school band playing American band classics!
5:00pm - Three Legged Race!
3 Legged Race for kids, and possibly adults too?
5:00 - Singing of God Bless American and Star Spangled Banner!
A local student singer will be singing these songs solo acapella.
5:15pm -Tug of War!
Pull! A go or two for kids, and then adults as well.
5:30 - 6:30pm - Burning Season Band!
Rock Band playing awesome English music!
6:30 - 7:30pm - American Music Classics!
Local Bands playing awesome American Music classics!
7:30 - Fireworks!

We can only fit so many people. Guests with entry registration in advance will be provided with priority entrance. You can register for the event here. Don't worry, registering for the event is free, and please prepare 100 Baht in cash to be provided at the entry gate for each adult.

Location
Summer 9 Programs is using the venue of The Consul's Garden Chiang Mai for the event. Conveniently located along the Ping River, and near the city center of Chiang Mai, and with plenty of parking available it will be the perfect spot for the event!

Rain Or Shine!
We know it's the rainy season and there is a good chance of some rain during the event. Last year it rained for 10 minutes shortly before the event started. Thirty minutes later the skies were clear and beautiful. So, we will be running the event, rain or shine. Please be patient with the weather.
*If a typhoon or other storm is predicted to hit Chiang Mai at the time of the event, we will probably postpone / cancel and let everyone know on our social media platforms. However, at this time of year, this is rather unlikely.
Who can come and take part?
Absolutely anyone can come and take part in this super fun event! There will be some VIPs around, so please behave! Local Thais, Americans and anyone of any nationality, ethnic background is more then welcomed to take part. It's going to be a lot of fun!
